As part of the Road to Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games pathway, the Youth Athlete Development Programme—organized by the Rwanda National Olympic and Sports Committee (RNOSC) with the support of Olympic Solidarity—supported young Table Tennis athletes Didier Munezero and Kamikazi Elisabeth. The programme concluded with Olympic Values Education and Anti-Doping sessions, following training camps held from December 23–29, 2025 and January 28–February 3, 2026.
Speaking to the trainees, the Director of the National Olympic Academy of Rwanda, Albert Kayiranga, emphasized the importance of core Olympic values in both sport and everyday life. "Excellence, Friendship, and Respect should guide you not only during competition, but also in your daily lives," he said. "Above all, you must show respect to your opponents, because that is the true spirit of sport."
Dr. Nuhu Assuman, President of the RNOSC Medical and Anti-Doping Commission, highlighted the importance of integrity and discipline in athletic development. "You must maintain your physique and overall health at the highest level possible, but you must do so without resorting to doping," he warned. "Even the slightest intention to enhance performance through prohibited means can lead to a permanent ban from sport."
Encouraging the athletes to make the most of the opportunity, the Secretary General of RNOSC, Kajangwe Joseph, underscored the programme's role in shaping future elite athletes. "Programs like this are stepping stones to elite performance," he noted. "Take them seriously, work hard, and aim to reach the highest level of athleticism so that you can proudly represent Rwanda at Olympic events."
The Youth Athlete Development Programme reflects RNOSC's continued commitment to nurturing young talent, promoting Olympic values, and preparing the next generation of athletes to compete with integrity and excellence on the international stage.
